DUPR Teams powered by MLPlay

Updated: Dec 15, 2022

The future of pickleball leagues has arrived: DUPR & MLP are launching fun, social, amateur team leagues across the country. Play on teams with your friends and family, or meet new players in your local community–even compete for a chance to play in pickleball’s first ever Team National Championship to be broadcast on National Television. DUPR Teams are easy to schedule and can be played in just one weekend.

Team Composition

Teams are made up of two men and two women, competing over one or two days. MLPlay rules allow rally scoring and create exciting twists on traditional match-ups and scoring formats.

Format

  • A match features four lines, starting with women’s doubles, followed by men’s doubles, and then two mixed doubles games.

  • If two teams are tied after the four games, an innovative tiebreaker known as the “DreamBreaker™” is played, with a rotational system involving all four players.

  • Teams first compete in pool or round-robin play. The top teams square off in a single-elimination format.

DUPR Divisions

  • DUPR 18 (The team’s aggregate DUPR must not exceed 18)

  • DUPR 16 (The team’s aggregate DUPR must not exceed 16)

  • DUPR 14 (The team’s aggregate DUPR must not exceed 14)

  • DUPR 12 (The team’s aggregate DUPR must not exceed 12)

Alternates: Teams can have one male and one female alternate on their team. However, the four players competing cannot exceed their division’s aggregate DUPR.

National Pathway: How do I earn a “Platinum Ticket” to DUPR Teams Nationals?

  • The champion and runner-up of the Local Qualifier earn the opportunity to compete in Regionals.

  • Regional champions and runners-up earn a “Platinum Ticket” to the DUPR Team Nationals.
